taste of the danforth

My favourite summer festival in Toronto -- the 'Taste of the Danforth'.

All those heady, rich scents of steaming food -- primarily Greek, but also Thai, south Asian, a little Brazilian . . .

wow, one year already

I just realized my last post marked the first birthday of this fledgling blog.

Happy birthday, blog!

And a pink moon is a better thing than last year's summer of the gun.

pink moon rising

I can't see the sun set from my apartment. It is around the corner, off to the right of my building. But as it sets, I can see the full moon, off to my left, begin as a faint circle on the horizon of Lake Ontario. Now, only ten minutes from when I began to watch it, it has floated three moons high and is reflecting the pink of the setting sun.

Its moon craters shadow it creating a surprised face, a round 'Scream.' The sky and air darken and the moon floats, floats, floats, up, up, up . . .
